"Child Wonder"
Carved from the Agate Red, Green and White Alabasters I always wondered whether I could carve another “Sacred Datura” and imagined our young son coming upon one in full bloom as he came upon this magical desert canyon. There are a few pieces in my 37 years as a professional carver that I wish I hadn’t sold. This was one of them.

"Yaki Point - Grand Canyon"
Sitting atop Yaki Point for many hours starting at the Grand Canyon one day I “got” the canyon and understood that we do the same thing with our tools. G-d uses wind and rain over time to erode, to form – we use abrasives of all sizes and shapes. Inspired by the extreme beauty of the canyon and confident “I could do this too!” I went home and carved this magnificent piece which dissembles into four hidden compartments.
The Alabaster it is carved from is a spectacular and singular piece that ranged in color from purples and reds to greys, blacks and oranges – the colors of the canyon. We’ve never found a piece like it since! This was another that I wished I hadn’t sold!

"River Rock Cascade"
From the rare Desert Striped Alabaster each of these rock forms from the largest to the tiniest is individually carved (not found) and arranged in this lyrical river worn formation. The three largest of the carved river rocks are hand sculptures that reveal hidden spaces inside. Don’t we all want to climb inside our secret and safest cocoons?

"Functional Orange and Purple River Rock"
Very rare Orange, Purple and Red Alabaster carved into a river rock shape. Hidden container lined with High Desert Juniper veneer. To preserve and celebrate the extraordinary beauty of the stone and always inspired by the primal shape of worn river rocks certain rocks beckon to become one of my “Functional Rocks”.

"Mescalito’s Moon"
From an extraordinary singular piece of Alabaster that we found on the last trip we (or any other collector) were ever to make to the rarest Alabaster deposit on the planet Paul carved this ‘stacker’ – a sculpture with 2 hidden containers lined with High Desert Juniper. With his carving he accentuated the mountain range formations already delineated in the figure in the stone, inlaid a piece of luscious sparkly green Uvarovite plain and finished it off with a Labradorite moon!
