Golden-Pink Sunset Rose - 20″ High X 14″ Wide X 12″ Deep

Alabaster is the only material on the planet that truly describes Roses that look like they’re blowing in the wind. In no other stone can you find reflected the softness, color and translucency of a Rose.
In my thirty-three years as a professional Alabaster carver, I have carved nineteen Alabaster Roses. People do walk up to smell them! Alabaster and Rose are a perfect match of material and form.
This “Golden-Pink Sunset Rose” is the newest, the most technically extreme of them all and is carved from the very rarest of translucent pink and green Alabasters.
The “Golden-Pink Sunset Rose” will debut and be showcased at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Club Show in Tucson, Arizona from February 12th to 15th at the Tucson Convention Center. Dimensionally this piece is 20″ High X 14″ Wide X 12″ Deep.
Other Roses
On a mediation retreat in 1980 at Paramahansa Yogananda’s Self Realization Fellowship in Los Angeles, I was ‘overtaken’ by flowers. I’d never seen flowers so vividly and couldn’t wait to carve them. I had all the colors, the pinks, whites, yellows, oranges, purples….in Alabaster. I even had the green Alabaster for the stems and leaves! I’ve been carving flowers ever since.
While creating a piece I called ‘Sweet Inspiration’, a burst of flowers with gemstone stamins and pistols atop an Alabaster container, Paul said “I betcha can’t carve a Rose”! Oh Yea! That’s all I needed. I’ve been carving Roses ever since. They take forever.
In 32 years of carving I’m working on my 19th Rose! No other material describes a Rose translucent and blowing in the wind like Alabaster. When my mother last visited she saw my latest long stemmed ‘White Alabaster Rose’ and asked where I found such a perfect Rose. People do walk up to smell them.
